Welcome to Crypto Corner, a BTC Markets and Ticker News collaboration where we dive into the fast-moving world of crypto, blockchain innovation, and digital finance. In this episode, BTC Markets CEO Caroline Bowler speaks with Richelle Cox, COO of Blockchain APAC, and Steve Vallas, Managing Director of Blockchain APAC about Australia’s path forward in the blockchain economy.

Fresh from hosting Blockchain APAC Policy Week in Sydney, Richelle and Steve share insights from more than 70 international leaders and regulators. Their message: Australia has the potential to lead in Web3, but only if it acts decisively and learns from global best practices.
They highlight how constructive engagement between regulators, politicians, and industry is finally gaining momentum. the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), for example, recently concluded a comprehensive consultation process, and both Treasury and other agencies are preparing reforms that could shape the sector for years.
With global jurisdictions like the U.K., U.S., and Singapore already advancing blockchain legislation, Australia risks being left behind. The episode explores how bipartisan political will, thoughtful regulation, and industry input can help the country catch up.
"It’s not about regulation or no regulation. It’s about making sure it’s commercially viable and forward-looking," says Vallas.
"This is going to be foundational for the economy and touch on everyone’s lives," adds Cox. "If it takes a couple of extra months to get it right, then so be it."
