How is crypto redefining global power and inclusion?

Welcome to Crypto Corner, a BTC Markets and Ticker News collaboration where we dive into the fast-moving world of crypto, blockchain innovation, and digital finance. In this episode, Caroline Bowler speaks with Amanda Wick, founder of the Association for Women in Cryptocurrency and author of the new book The Catalysts.

How is crypto redefining global power and inclusion?

Amanda explains how the rise of decentralised finance (DeFi) and the global adoption of digital assets are fundamentally shifting the balance of economic power. From weakening the U.S. dollar’s dominance to challenging traditional mechanisms like sanctions, crypto is no longer a fringe innovation. It’s a geopolitical force.

She highlights how countries that fail to treat crypto as a strategic priority risk falling behind in both innovation and economic growth. At the same time, she sees an opportunity: if done right, crypto can improve financial inclusion, especially for underserved communities and emerging economies.

“Decentralised finance is a direct threat to sanctions—but also a powerful tool for access,” Amanda says. “Governments need to stop sitting back and start seeing policy as a competitive advantage.”

The episode also unpacks the themes in Amanda’s upcoming book, The Catalysts, which looks at how political dysfunction, rising nationalism, and digital disruption are colliding to reshape the world order. She believes it’s time for the “good actors” in crypto to speak louder and build a future where blockchain isn’t just about profit but also progress.
