The BTC Markets Investor Study Report 2025 shows that investor behaviour is becoming more intentional and strategy-driven. The average value per trade on the platform increased 25% year on year, signalling that investors are allocating more capital per transaction and doing so with purpose. Daily trades also climbed 17%, demonstrating consistent engagement and a shift toward structured, long-term strategies.
This trend reflects a more mature investor base. As digital assets move further into mainstream financial conversations, Australians are responding thoughtfully to market conditions, adapting strategies and building stronger portfolio habits.
XRP takes the lead as utility-driven trading grows
For the first time in five years, XRP overtook Bitcoin as the most traded asset on BTC Markets. While Bitcoin remains the most widely held, with 68% of survey respondents confirming ownership - XRP’s trading activity highlights the growing focus on practical use cases.
As Caroline Bowler notes: “XRP is designed for fast, low-cost international payments and has long been favoured by institutional players and retail users seeking practical use cases."
Solana also recorded strong retail interest, with trading volumes increasing 69%, reflecting its active ecosystem and appeal among users exploring newer, high-throughput networks.
Corporate participation continues to rise
Corporate adoption is accelerating as well. Corporate Bitcoin allocations on the BTC Markets platform grew 138% between December 2023 and June 2025. Companies are incorporating Bitcoin into their capital management strategies, mirroring global developments where major firms have added digital assets to their balance sheets.
As Ms. Bowler explains: “We’re seeing more companies register to use the BTC Markets platform and corporate treasuries embracing Bitcoin. This is in line with global trends, with companies like MicroStrategy and Tesla using crypto as part of their capital management mix. These trading patterns are further evidence of the market’s evolution.”
This behaviour underscores the growing recognition of digital assets as part of treasury diversification, alongside the broader shift toward institutional-grade engagement.
A more deliberate and diversified market
The data highlights a clear shift: investors are trading more intentionally, exploring utility-driven assets, and adopting structured strategies that align with long-term objectives. Retail investors, corporate users and experienced traders are contributing to a more deliberate and mature digital-asset ecosystem.
With rising trade values, expanded asset participation and growing institutional involvement, Australia’s crypto market is entering a phase defined by purpose, planning and strategic allocation.
