Women bring larger, deliberate investment

Australia’s crypto market continues to mature, and one of the most notable shifts in the BTC Markets Investor Study Report (ISR) 2025 is the rising participation of female investors. Women are entering the market with more conviction, supported by a significant increase in average initial deposits and a disciplined approach to trading.

For the first time in five years, women recorded higher average initial deposits than men, with a 115% year-on-year increase. This trend shows that when women decide to invest in digital assets, they commit meaningful capital from the outset.

Deliberate trading behaviour delivers steady outcomes

Women also trade less frequently than men. They accounted for 22% of daily trades, compared with 78% from male investors. Even with lower trading activity, women achieved 35% portfolio growth, closely aligning with the 38% recorded by men.

This reflects a common pattern observed in traditional investing: less frequent, high-intent decisions can deliver solid outcomes when paired with discipline and long-term planning.

“Women are entering the market with intent, bringing larger deposits, making fewer trades, and seeing steady returns. It’s a considered approach and helping mature the entire ecosystem,” Caroline Bowler, outgoing CEO of BTC Markets, said.

Growing confidence supported by broader market developments

Female investor participation reflects a broader shift in financial behaviour across Australia. Increased awareness, more accessible information, and strong institutional interest have encouraged more women to explore digital assets as part of a balanced portfolio strategy.

Rather than reacting to short-term market movements, women are showing clear intentionality. Their engagement is structured, measured, and aligned with long-term financial objectives.

A more mature and diverse investor base

The ISR highlights that women are contributing to the overall maturity of Australia’s digital asset ecosystem. Their approach strengthens market stability and supports the broader shift from speculative behaviour to structured, long-term use.

As more women explore digital assets alongside traditional investments, their participation is helping to redefine the profile of the Australian crypto investor, strategic, informed, and focused on long-term financial outcomes.
