What is Litecoin

Litecoin (LTC) was created by Charlie Lee in 2011. LTC wants to be the ‘silver’ token to BTC ‘gold’. It uses a modified version of BTC original code, allowing for quicker and cheaper payments. This is important as confirmation time may run to 10 minutes on BTC versus 2.5 minutes on LTC.

The Litecoin Foundation was established alongside the launch of LTC. The non-profit organisation seeks to advance and promote the use of LTC and blockchain technology worldwide.
